Grades 1-4 The Library of Awesome Animals series (10 titles) delivers colorful, creature-filled early readers, perfect for the primary grades and newly independent readers. Australia's subterranean cutie, the wombat, emerges from its burrow in this volume, which outlines the marsupial's digging, eating, sleeping, and reproductive habits, as well as wondrous factoids, like the wombat's rear-facing pouch (to protect babies from flying dirt while Mom is digging). Each topical spread includes a heading, one full-page wombat photo with a caption or fun fact, and a page of text, up to two paragraphs long, printed in large type and generally including a bolded vocabulary term and smaller photo illustration.
